SCOTTISH CAR OF THE YEAR (SCOTY) AWARDS PRAISE ‘UTILITARIAN CHARACTER’

The INEOS Grenadier 4X4 has picked up its first award: winning the ‘Best Design and Innovation’ category at the Scottish Car of the Year (SCOTY) awards 2021.

Judges praised the Grenadier’s utilitarian character, noting that it is perfectly suited for tackling Scotland’s tough terrain.

The annual awards took place in Edinburgh on 25 November. Organised and judged by the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers (ASMW), they recognise the best vehicles and automotive achievements of the year across more than 15 categories.

WHAT ARE PEOPLE SAYING?

It’s very gratifying to win an award for the Grenadier’s design. Every decision we’ve made is based on purpose, which means visually it’s just very logical and easy-to-understand. Of course, we care how it looks, so just because it’s been engineering-led it doesn’t mean it has to be ugly, we can still make it look interesting with elements like the simple round headlights and utility rails. It’s almost a canvas for people to go and build upon – here’s a vehicle that is massively capable off-road but it’s up to you to go and make it your own.

GO AND MAKE IT YOUR OWN

A key part of the Grenadier’s design is that it’s a canvas on which to build. So head over to our configurator and start to have a look at models, colour and options. There’s still time to reserve a place at the front of the queue when ordering opens in early 2022 ahead of production starting in July.
