INEOS Britannia
A Shared Purpose.
The INEOS Grenadier and INEOS Britannia share more than just a logo. They represent grit, resilience, and determination, and a relentless drive to overcome challenges. INEOS Britannia, established in 2018, sails against 132 years of history, aiming to claim the America’s Cup. The oldest international trophy in sport, yet to be won by British challengers.
INEOS Britannia at the America's Cup
The INEOS Britannia team made history this year in Barcelona, becoming the first British team to reach the final of the America's Cup for over 60 years. Despite defeat against Emirates Team New Zealand in the final battle, the team fought incredibly hard, giving absolutely everything. They take home the Louis Vuitton Cup as history makers, and should be unquestionably proud of their efforts.
The AMERICA'S CUP
The America’s Cup pre-dates the modern Olympics, the Ryder Cup and the World Cup. It originated in 1851 when Queen Victoria and Prince Albert hosted the Great Exhibition, to showcase the best of British technology and excellence to the world. They invited the New York Yacht Club to compete against the British fleet in a race around the Isle of Wight. A schooner called ‘the America’ won, giving the cup its name, marking the beginning of a long-standing tradition in competitive international sailing.
"The Grenadier is the perfect tool for us, we are water-based a lot of the time and we have chase boats that help us with the practicalities. The Grenadier does all of that for us on land and it's totally dependable, no nonsense and it gets the job done."
