Hard Way Home just got harder
Three new owners chosen by our Grenadier community headed to the wilds of Morocco to drive their three new Grenadiers home. Starting with an off-road route selected to test them and their vehicles to the limit. That was the plan for the Hard Way Home – a proper new vehicle handover like no other. What happened next turned out to be so much more than that.
We planned a serious off-road route. We prepared for every eventuality. We had it all under control. Or so we thought. Nature and the wild Moroccan terrain had other ideas. Flash floods, blizzards, a forced change of plan. The challenges kept on coming. So how did the new Grenadiers cope? And did the three drivers manage to make it back? A 4X4 built for the Hard Way Home
Here’s a Grenadier primed and ready to tackle the tough off-road trails of Morocco. Check out the features, options and accessories engineered to help get the vehicle through the Hard Way Home.

Kevlar-reinforced sidewalls ensure maximum protection against objects or sharp rocks on the trail. Well-proven tyres chosen by many off-roaders. Perfect to give the drivers more confidence in the thick mud and slippery terrain of the Hard Way Home.
The tough Moroccan terrain was made even more challenging by the unexpectedly harsh conditions. Engaging diff locks ensured traction even in the deep sand of the wadis and the boggy clay of the desert tracks. While three locking diffs (centre as standard, two optional, front and rear) guaranteed they kept moving even when only one wheel had traction.
The tougher the drive, the fewer distractions you want. Our Hard Way Home drivers used Off-Road Mode for real confidence in the desert, along rocky trails, and through narrow mountain passes. The central touchscreen displayed all the info they needed, including vehicle attitude, steering angle, system temperatures and drivetrain status.
Provided solid protection for the Grenadier’s underbody while rock crawling and tackling the harsh Moroccan terrain. Giving our drivers the confidence they needed to overcome even the toughest obstacles on the Hard Way Home trails. Powder-coated steel, and tested in the toughest conditions, each can withstand two tonnes of load and act as anchoring points for a Hi-Lift Jack.
With double seals on the doors that keep the battery and fuse compartments waterproof, and high side air intake, the Grenadier wades through up to 800mm of water no problem. Hard Way Home put it to the test after torrential rainfall on an epic journey across Morocco.
Allowed our Hard Way Home drivers to focus on the terrain ahead without worrying what gear they were in. Paired with our BMW powertrain to offer seamless shifts to maintain momentum. Simplifies off-road driving to keep eyes on the trail and hands on the wheel. With a heavy-duty torque converter, it’s tested and tuned for all conditions.
